Configure a User Roster

You can use a User Roster to redirect alarms to a different User or User Group, depending which User or User Group is deemed to be the ‘Duty User’ when an alarm redirection is triggered.

You can specify up to 16 different Users or User Groups per User Roster. You can redirect alarms to a User Roster’s ‘Duty User’ via E-Mail, Voicemail, Pager, SMS, or another third-party alarm redirection application.

WARNING

MISDIRECTED ALARM NOTIFICATIONS

If Geo SCADA Expert is to redirect alarm messages to the users in a User Roster, those users must be able to receive messages via the same E-Mail or Pager Contact number. Ensure that each user account associated with the User Roster is configured to receive messages via the E-Mail or Pager Contact number (1, 2, 3, or 4) specified on the Redirection Action’s Form.

For information on configuring user contact details, see Define the E-Mail, Pager and Voicemail Contact Settings for a User.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage.

In order to redirect alarms to the ‘Duty User’ on a User Roster, you need to:

  1. Add a User Roster.
  2. Configure the User Roster Properties.
  3. Assign a User Roster to a Redirection Action.
  4. Assign that Redirection Action to the database item(s) or group(s) for which you want to redirect alarms (see Configure Alarm Redirections for an Item or Group).
  5. Specify the Duty User from a list of Users or User Groups on the User Roster.

For an example of how a User Roster might be used to redirect alarms, see Use a User Roster to Redirect Alarms ‘Out of Hours’ to an On-Duty Engineer.

As an alternative to redirecting alarms on a User Roster basis, you might want to consider redirecting alarms on a Calendar basis (see Configure an Alarm Redirection Calendar).
