Pager/SMS Redirection

A Pager Action forwards the alarm details as a text message to a pager or mobile phone. This allows the relevant person to be notified of an alarm even when they are away from the control room or their workstation. The user to whom a pager or mobile phone message is sent needs to have the required privileges in ViewX to be able to acknowledge the alarm to which that message relates.

You need to configure a separate Pager Action for each different pager message that you want sent. You also need to ensure that the engineer’s user account has the relevant pager contact details configured. You can use a Pager Action to redirect alarms to an individual User, to every user in a User Group, or to the nominated individual from a User Roster.

If your system uses Geo SCADA Expert's Geographical Location features, you can configure Pager Actions to redirect alarms based on the region with which the alarms are associated. With such a redirection setup, Geo SCADA Expert redirects the alarms to users that are in the same geographical region as the database item with which the alarm is associated (see Control Alarm Redirection by Geographical Region).

To extend the alarm redirection functionality further, consider using a Method Action (User) redirection action. This redirects alarms to specific user(s), and you can design extensions to, for example, enable Geo SCADA Expert to interface with a third-party alarm redirection application. Use that application to provide the required redirection functionality (such as voice alarm announcement).
