My Monitor Allocation Has Changed
This topic applies to ViewX clients that use a Startup Configuration File to launch Geo SCADA Expert on a Multi-Monitor setup.
If you use the Monitor attribute in your Startup Configuration file, when the ViewX client launches, Geo SCADA Expert matches this number with the order that is returned by the Windows API call 'EnumDisplayMonitors'. (The monitor numbers that are returned by the Windows API call do NOT necessarily correspond to the numbers that are assigned to those monitors in the System Display settings in Windows.) Certain activities outside of Geo SCADA Expert might inadvertently cause the monitor numbers to change in the operating system. This might cause a discrepancy between any Monitor attribute values specified in the Startup Configuration File and the monitor numbers identified by the operating system. If this occurs, consider using the MonitorOrigin attribute in your Startup Configuration File instead of the Monitor attribute.
If your Startup Configuration file already uses the MonitorOrigin attribute, but any of the following have occurred since you last ran ViewX, you will need to update the MonitorOrigin settings to align with your revised monitor setup:
- Any of the monitors have been replaced with different monitors
(whereby the resolution, orientation, or relative position differs from that of the original monitors) - The orientation of any of the monitors has changed
- The relative position of any of the monitors has changed
- The resolution of any of the monitors has changed
- Further monitors have been added to your Multi-Monitor setup
- You have permanently reduced the number of monitors in your Multi-Monitor setup.
