ViewX and Virtual ViewX Logging

ViewX log files contain information about each head on a client (each instance of the ViewX application). This includes information about the documents that are on display, logging on, initialization at start-up, and so on. ViewX log files also contain low-level information about the connection between ViewX and the server.

Virtual ViewX log files contain information about each instance of Virtual ViewX. The names of the log files are prefixed with the text 'Virtualized_' to distinguish them from ViewX log files.

To display a ViewX or Virtual ViewX log file:

  1. Use Windows Explorer to locate the log file (see File Locations (Default). The log files are stored at the location that is specified in the LogFileBase registry setting.

The default location of the LogFileBase registry setting is:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Schneider Electric\ClearSCADA\ViewX

(If the log files are not at this location, a different path might be specified in the registry (see Using a Registry Editor to Change Client Log File Settings).)

  2. Open the log file in a text editor program, for example, Microsoft Windows Notepad.
