Use Copy and Paste to Copy a Database Item

The Copy and Paste feature uses Windows’ temporary storage ‘clipboard’ to store a copy of the item’s configuration.

When you copy an item to the clipboard, the item’s configuration is stored in the clipboard until it is replaced by other copied content (which may be from another application).

When you use the paste feature, you add the contents of the clipboard to a selected Group or Group Template. However, the contents of the clipboard are only added if they are compatible.

To use the copy and paste features to copy an item:

  1. Copy an Item onto the Clipboard.
  2. Paste an Item from the Clipboard into the Database.

You can also use the above procedures to copy items between Geo SCADA Expert systems, if your workstation is connected to more than one system. To copy items between systems that are not connected, you need use the Import and Export features (see Importing and Exporting Database Items).
