Configure an MQTT Sparkplug™ B Property Translation Table

As an alternative to manually creating MQTT Sparkplug B Points in the database, you can use the Create Points from Birth Metrics pick action to trigger Geo SCADA Expert to automatically create the appropriate suite of database points. The pick action triggers Geo SCADA Expert to create the relevant suite of points for the EoN Node or Sparkplug B Device on which that pick action is selected.

By default, Geo SCADA Expert automatically selects the In Service check box, and populates the Metric Parent and Metric Name fields on the points that it creates as a result of the Create Points from Birth Metrics pick action (see Configure the Common Point Properties). The rest of the configuration properties on the points are either left at their default values or left unpopulated (whichever is applicable). However, you can optionally use a Property Translation Table to specify which other configuration properties Geo SCADA Expert is to set on the points when it creates them as a result of the Create Points from Birth Metrics pick action. Using a Property Translation Table in this way can help to reduce the amount of configuration that has to be performed manually on the points once they have been created in the database.

You can store multiple Property Translation Tables in the database, and select which one Geo SCADA Expert is to use when it automatically creates the points for a particular EoN Node or Sparkplug B Device.

You create an MQTT Sparkplug B Property Translation Table item in the database for each Property Translation Table file that you want to store and use in Geo SCADA Expert. The configuration Form of the MQTT Sparkplug B Property Translation Table includes several tabs. The properties on the tabs are common to many database items. For information about the tabs, see Tabs that are Common to Many Configuration Forms.
