Define the Beep Code for a Message Sent using the TAP or Multitone Protocol
If you are sending a message that uses the Multitone protocol or TAP protocol with Beep Code support enabled, you can define a Beep Code for your message. Beep Codes are supported by certain Service Providers and pager devices, and they are used to instruct a recipient pager device to make a specific audible sound when it receives a message. By using the Beep Code property on the Send Pager Message window, you can define which sound is to be played.
For pagers using the Multitone protocol, you can use the following Beep Codes:
Beep Code |
Audible Sound |
---|---|
1 |
Triple Beep |
2 |
Single Beep |
3 |
Double Beep |
4 |
Continuous Beeps |
5 |
Triple Pip |
6 |
Single Pip |
7 |
Double Pip |
8 |
Continuous Pips |
Pagers that use the TAP protocol use various different codes, depending on the manufacturer and the device. For information on the Beep Codes supported by your pager device, please refer to the manufacturers' documentation.
The Beep Code property is only available for TAP Pager Services if the Service supports a beep code property is enabled in the Pager Services' configuration (see Enable or Disable Beep Code Support for a TAP Pager Service).
To define the Beep Code for your message:
- Display the Send Pager Message window by right-clicking on a Pager Service or User and selecting the Send Pager Message action (see Sending a Message Manually).
- Enter the characters for the required sound in the Beep Code field, for example, if you are sending a message to a Multitone pager and want it to make a double beep, enter 3 in the Beep Code field.
