Redirecting Alarm Messages to Pagers or Mobile Phones Automatically
Geo SCADA Expert includes an Alarm Redirection feature that allows an alarm message to be sent automatically in the form of a pager message or SMS message (Alarm Redirection also supports e-mail and voice message alarm redirections). This means that when an alarm is raised for a database item, the alarm message can be shown in Geo SCADA Expert and sent to an engineer's pager or mobile phone, which is especially useful when there are engineers working remotely (off site).
In this section, we provide a brief overview of the configuration required to redirect a database item's alarms in the form of a pager message or SMS message. For more detailed information on Alarm Redirection, please refer to the sections listed under ‘Further Information’ at the end of this section.
To redirect a database item's alarms in the form of a pager message or SMS message, you need to:
- Create and configure an Alarm Redirection Pager Action. The configuration of the Redirection Action includes the To, Pager Number, (Pager) Message, and Beep Code properties that you need to configure when sending a message manually (see Sending a Message Manually). The Pager Number and To properties associate the Alarm Redirection with a User account and one of its Pager Contact settings. The Pager Contact setting determines whether a pager message or an SMS message is sent (the Pager Service for the Pager Contact represents a pager protocol or the SMS protocol).
- Configure the Redirection properties of the System, Group, or database item that is to have its alarms redirected in the form of a Pager message or SMS message. The Redirection properties need to associate the item's alarms with the Alarm Redirection Pager Action (you do this by selecting the Alarm Redirection Pager Action in the Action field on the Redirection tab of the relevant database item).
