Create a SCADAPack 575 Device Configuration Item
Add a SCADAPack 57x Device Configuration item to the database. This item will contain the configuration that you can download to the SCADAPack 575 to configure the actual SCADAPack device. This type of item is available from the Devices sub-branch within the SCADAPack x70 branch of the Create New menu.
When you create the Device Configuration item, you can leave most of the configuration fields at their default values. For this tutorial, the only fields that you have to change on the Device's configuration Form are as follows:
On the Settings tab:
- Type—(This field is located within the Device Selection section.) Ensure that this is set to SCADAPack 575.
- Device Configuration Options—Clear the check boxes other than DNP3 Outstation (which will be 'grayed out' and selected). With just this check box selected, the SCADAPack 575 is configured to operate as a stand-alone DNP3 remote device, communicating with its DNP3 controlling station (Geo SCADA Expert).
On the DNP3 Outstation tab:
- DNP3 Outstation Address—(This field is located within the Connection to Controlling Station section.) In the Controlling Station 1 column, leave this field at its default value of 0.
- DNP3 Controlling Station Address—(This field is located within the Connection to Controlling Station section.) In the Controlling Station 1 column, leave this field at its default value of 30000.
- Unsolicited Allowed— (This check box is located within the Connection to Controlling Station section.) In the Controlling Station 1 column, select this check box so that it displays a check mark. For the device to send unsolicited events to the Geo SCADA Expert server, you have to create a DNP3 route. We will guide you to do this in the next section of this tutorial.
- Communications Port—(This combo box is located within the Connection to Controlling Station section.) In the Controlling Station 1 column, set this to combo box to Ethernet 1. This identifies the physical port on the SCADAPack 575 device into which you will plug the Ethernet cable.
- Event Notification Delay— (This field is located within the Unsolicited Message Generation (Triggered Events) section.) The default of 10 seconds should be suitable for many system setups, but for the purposes of this tutorial, set this property to 2 seconds.
- Default Enabled Event Classes— (This field is located within the Unsolicited Configuration section.) Leave this field at its default value of No Classes. Geo SCADA Expert will determine the classes of data for which it should transmit unsolicited messages, once it establishes communications with the SCADAPack 575.
On the IP Communications tab:
- IP Address—(This field is located within the Ethernet Ports section.) Set the IP Address for Ethernet 1 port.
- Subnet Mask—(This field is located within the Ethernet Ports section.) Set the Subnet Mask for Ethernet 1 port.
Ensure that these settings are appropriate for the network that you are using for the SCADAPack x70 device and the Geo SCADA Expert server (consult your network administrator if required).
After you create and configure the SCADAPack 575 Device Configuration item, you should Add a DNP3 Route.
