Define the Event Notification Delay
The fields within the Unsolicited Message Generation (Triggered Events) section of the tab apply to unsolicited messages that the outstation sends to any DNP3 controlling station. If an outstation is to send unsolicited messages, in addition to the fields in this section, you also have to configure the properties within the Connection to Controlling Station section of the tab.
Use the field within the Unsolicited Message Generation (Triggered Events section of the DNP3 Outstation tab to specify the delay time before notification of an event is sent as an unsolicited message.
Specify the delay between the outstation detecting a ‘Send Unsolicited’ condition, and the contents of the Event Buffer being sent as an unsolicited message. This delay can reduce network bandwidth usage because it allows the first event, and any events that occur during this period, to be sent to the DNP3 Controlling Station in a single unsolicited response.
Enter the required interval in the OPC Time Format. You can enter the value directly in the field, or use the Interval window (accessed via the field's browse button) to specify the required value.
The SCADAPack x70 device will send an unsolicited message if:
- The Event Buffer contains more than the specified number of one of the Event Classes
- The generation of a particular event causes the outstation to transmit its buffered events to Geo SCADA Expert in an unsolicited message (see Specify the Point Data Class used for DNP3 Communications).
