Export Configuration from RemoteConnect Ready for Importing into Geo SCADA Expert
There are occasions when you might want to import configuration from RemoteConnect into the Geo SCADA Expert database. For example, after you have used RemoteConnect to set up or change the SCADAPack x70 logic that is used in a SCADAPack x70 device. Before you can import the configuration from RemoteConnect into Geo SCADA Expert, you have to export that configuration. The export process stores the configuration and SCADAPack x70 logic application in a SCADAPack import configuration file (.rtz file), ready for importing into Geo SCADA Expert.
To export configuration (including SCADAPack x70 logic) from RemoteConnect:
-
In RemoteConnect, on the SCADAPack x70 Configuration tab, select SCADAPack x70 Logic.
The SCADAPack x70 Logic page is displayed. -
If required, use the logic editor's Project Name property to change the name that will be used for the .rtz file. By default the Project Name is 'Project', to which the .rtz file extension gets appended, providing a default of Project.rtz. This is the file that will contain the configuration and SCADAPack x70 logic, ready for importing into Geo SCADA Expert.
You might want to specify a different Project Name, for example, if you are editing the configuration of several SCADAPack x70 devices, to help avoid confusion over which .rtz file relates to which SCADAPack x70 device.
-
Save your project in RemoteConnect.
The project is saved as a collection of files. This is the same folder into which the RTZ file will be stored once it has been created. -
In the SCADAPack x70 Logic Editor section, select the Open Editor button.
-
In the Build Logic section, select the Update & Build Logic button.
A new .rtz file is created in the same folder as the other current project files. The .rtz file contains the latest configuration and SCADAPack x70 logic that exists in RemoteConnect for the project , ready for importing into Geo SCADA Expert. -
In the SCADAPack x70 Logic Editor section, select the Close Editor button.
-
If required, you can rename the .rtz file so that it does not get overwritten if you opt to re-update the configuration and logic.
If the Update & Build Logic process fails, no new .rtz file will be created. (Additionally, the timestamp of any existing .rtz file in the same folder will remain unchanged should the process fail.) If this happens, check the configuration in RemoteConnect and re-attempt the build process.
Only import an .rtz file from a successful build process into Geo SCADA Expert, to help ensure that you only import up-to-date configuration and SCADAPack x70 logic into the Geo SCADA Expert database.
In Geo SCADA Expert, you can now use the Import from RemoteConnect pick action to import the .rtz file into the database.
