OPC UA Server & PCS Service Settings

The OPC UA Server & PCS Service category is only available if the suite of PCS prerequisite components is installed on the Geo SCADA Expert server (see Geo SCADA Expert Prerequisite Components).

The Global Parameters branch of the Server Configuration Tool includes an OPC UA Server & PCS Service section. You can use the section to modify the subscription and update settings of the PCS Server.

To define the PCS Service settings:

  1. Access the Geo SCADA Expert Server Configuration Tool.
  2. Expand the Global Parameters branch.
  3. Select the OPC UA Server & PCS Service option.

  4. Define the following settings:
    • Scope Name—Enter the PCS Service scope name. By default the scope name is set to the host name of the machine on which the server is running. This setting is useful when configuring the redundant server configuration. If the scope name is set to the same value for all redundant servers, the PCS Service client will be able to automatically switch over to the currently active server.
    • In the IData & IBrowse section:

    • Enabled—Use to define whether the use of iData and iBrowse is enabled in the driver.

Select the check box to enable the use of iData and iBrowse in the driver. Use the properties in the rest of this section to modify the subscription and update settings of the PCS Server.

Clear the check box to disable the use of iData and iBrowse in the driver. This is the default setting. The rest of the properties in this section are 'grayed out' and unavailable for use.

    • Maximum number of items in the subscription—Use to define the maximum number of items in one PCS Service subscription. The default value is 1000000.
    • Maximum number of updates in the publish response—Use to define the maximum number of value updates that the PCS Service can send to the client in one publish response message. The default value is 2000.
    • Maximum number of updates in the buffered data query—Use to define the maximum number of historical value updates that the PCS Service requests from the historian for one point at a time. This setting effects how the PCS Service publishes data for a 'buffered' item subscription. With such subscriptions, the PCS Service periodically queries the specified number of historical value updates for all 'buffered' item subscriptions before publishing them to the client. The default value is 10.
