Run the Virtual ViewX Server Installer

To install the Virtual ViewX (Web) server, you need to run the Geo SCADA Expert installer program.

Virtual ViewX is supported by Geo SCADA Expert 2019 onwards. We strongly recommend that you install the Virtual ViewX server on a different machine to the Geo SCADA Expert server. This is to avoid potential performance issues due to the number of resources that each application uses.

If you do install Geo SCADA Expert and Virtual ViewX on the same machine, both applications must have the same version and build number. This is because the applications share some resources.

To run the Geo SCADA Expert installer:

  1. Insert the Geo SCADA Expert DVD. If Autorun is disabled on your PC, run the DVD manually.
  2. When the Geo SCADA Expert screen is displayed, select the Install Virtual ViewX Server option.

    The Virtual ViewX Server installer runs.

    3. When you run the installer, Windows may ask you if you want Virtual ViewX Server Setup to be able to make changes to your computer. Choose Yes to allow the installation to continue.

The Welcome ‘page’ is shown (see Virtual ViewX Server Setup Wizard).

If your PC does not have the required prerequisite components installed, the installer will attempt to install them before installing Virtual ViewX (see Virtual ViewX Server Prerequisite Components). For example, it will install Thinfinity® VirtualUI™ if it does not exist on the machine already.

NOTICE

INABILITY TO RUN Virtual ViewX

Do not delete, or change the password of, the VVXLocalUser that is created automatically in Windows when Virtual ViewX is installed on the Virtual ViewX server. This user account is required to run the ViewX processes on that server machine. For more information, see User Account Created Automatically on the Virtual ViewX Server Machine.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in inoperable equipment.
