Create an I/O Module
Add a SCADAPack x70 575 Composite I/O Module to the database. This type of database item is available from the I/O Modules sub-branch within the SCADAPack x70 branch of the Create New menu. This particular I/O Module defines how the on-board I/O are configured on the SCADAPack 575 device. Some of the other I/O Modules that are supported by the SCADAPack x70 driver define how the inputs and/or outputs are configured on separate I/O modules that you can use to extend the number of I/O (points) on a SCADAPack x70 device.
When you create the I/O Module in the database, you can leave most of the configuration fields at the default values. For this tutorial, the only fields that you need to change on the item's configuration Form are on the SCADAPack x70 tab. They are as follows:
- Device Configuration—Specify the SCADAPack x70 57x Device Configuration item that you created earlier in this tutorial.
- I/O Module Name—Set this to Module1.
This field can only contain alphanumeric characters and underscores. As such, you cannot include a forward slash for the text 'I/O'.
- Analog Averaging—Set this to None.
- AI1—(This field is located within the Channel Configuration section of the tab.) Specify the first SCADAPack x70 Analog Configuration item that you created earlier in this tutorial (the one that you associated with an analog input point).
- AO1—(This field is located within the Channel Configuration section of the tab.) Specify the second SCADAPack x70 Analog Configuration item that you created earlier in this tutorial (the one that you associated with an analog output point).
The I/O Module Address is fixed at 0 for an I/O Module that represents the on-board I/O on a SCADAPack x70 device. If you were configuring an I/O Module to represent a separate module that extends the number of I/O on that device, you would have to specify a suitable address for that I/O Module.
Once you have configured the I/O Module, you can Create a Mimic to Display the Points.
