Configuring Forecasts

Forecasts are a specialized area—if your system is not used for importing future (forecast) data, you can ignore this section of the guide.

Forecasts are predictions of future records of the values, at various times, of a measurable quantity, such as a river level. The time period that Forecasts cover may range, for example, from one day in the past to two days into the future, or from several months in the past to several months into the future.

When Forecasts are used on a ClearSCADA system, the Forecast data is typically imported at regular intervals using an executable client program, such as one written in Visual BasicTM, or Mimic script. The actual data import is usually an automated process.

This section explains how to:

For information on importing Forecast data into ClearSCADA, see the documentation supplied with the Import utility that is used on your system. Also see Example Import Program.

For information on using Historic Calculations to produce Forecast data, see Configuring Historic Calculations.
