User Accounts

User accounts are a key part of the ClearSCADA system security mechanism. They allow individual users to be allocated a configurable identity that can provide or restrict access to system features.

ClearSCADA offers three user-related security setups. Use whichever one best suits your requirements:

• Manage user accounts directly in ClearSCADA. For more information, see the topics that are listed in the gray footer section at the bottom of this topic. Select the relevant entry to display the topic that you require.
• Map ClearSCADA user accounts to operating system user accounts to enable authentication of logon details via a Windows domain server or LDAP/LDAP SSL. For more information, see Using External Authentication with ClearSCADA.
• Integrate ClearSCADA with your network's Active Directory or LDAP user accounts, to enable ClearSCADA user accounts to be created automatically based on the settings of those network user accounts. For this type of setup, you use a User Pattern to define the settings for the new User accounts that ClearSCADA might be triggered to create automatically. (You only need create User accounts manually in ClearSCADA for any users that are not integrated with Windows or LDAP user profiles.)
