Alarm Limits

You can use the Alarm Limits section of the ClearSCADA Server Configuration Tool to enable the multiple alarms feature and the master station alarm limits feature. These features allow different alarm limits to be applied to the points in your database (although master station alarm limits only apply to analog points and are only used at the master station).

By using multiple sets of alarm limits, you can use different alarm limits in different circumstances. For example, a group of points can be switched from using a 'Summer' set of alarm limits to a 'Winter' set of alarm limits when the seasons change. For more information, see Multiple Alarm Limits.

By using the master station alarm limits feature, you can apply extra alarm limits to analog points at the master station. This means that analog points can use up to 18 alarm limits instead of the 'standard' number of alarm limits (the 'standard' number varies according to the type of point and the driver to which it relates). For more information, Setup Master Station Analog Point Alarm Limits.

A further topic in this section explains how engineers and operators can:

The Alarm Limits settings in the ClearSCADA Server Configuration Tool are optional settings. You should only alter the default settings if you specifically need to setup multiple alarm limits or master station alarm limits on your system.

If you do set up such alarm limits, the alarm limit values will need specifying on a per point basis. For more information, see:
