Create a DNP3 Direct Channel

Add a DNP3 Direct Channel to the database. You select the database item from the DNP3 branch of the Create New menu. This branch comprises that of the 'parent' driver (the driver that corresponds to the communications protocol that Geo SCADA Expert will use to communicate with the SCADAPack 575).

When you create the channel, you can leave most of the configuration fields at their default values. The only fields that you need to change for this tutorial are:

• Connection Type—This property is located on the Connection tab of the configuration Form. Set this to Network.
• Line Speed—This property is located in the first Scan Parameters section on the Scan Parameters tab. Set this to 9600.
• In Service—This property is located on the Channel tab. Select this check box so that it displays a check mark.

Once you have configured the channel, you can proceed to Create a DNP3 Direct Outstation Set.
