Configuring DNP3 Pulse Actions
This section provides information about DNP3 ‘Generic’ pulse actions (see DNP3 Master Configuration). If your system is running a DNP3 Extension Driver, other types of DNP3 pulse action might be available. For information about non-generic DNP3 pulse actions, see the relevant DNP3 extension driver guide.
The Geo SCADA Expert DNP3 driver supports the following types of pulse action:
- Pulse (NULL)—A one-action pulse for which a DNP3 NULL command executes the pulse.
- Pulse (Trip-Close)—A two-action pulse for which both actions (trip and close) can be performed on the same, or separate, physical points.
Configure the settings for the pulse actions using the fields on the DNP3 Pulse (NULL), or the DNP3 Pulse (Trip-Close) Form, respectively.
This section covers configuration of properties on the Pulse Action tab of each Form.
For DNP3 Pulse (NULL) and DNP3 Pulse (Trip-Close) actions, use the Pulse Action tab to:
- Configure General Properties
- Configure Pulse Properties
- Promote Retrieval of Data Associated with Pulse Controls (see Specify which Outstations are Integrity Polled after a Successful Control).
For DNP3 Pulse (NULL) actions, also use the Pulse Action tab to:
For DNP3 Pulse (Trip-Close) actions, also use the Pulse Action tab to:
The fields on other tabs are common to points and pulse actions on many advanced drivers—see Tabs on Point Forms in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Advanced Drivers.
For an example that demonstrates how a Pulse Action might be configured to operate on a Geo SCADA Expert system, see Pulse Control Example.
