Specify the Scan Group that is Associated with the Status Data Retrieval

Use the Scan Group (Confidence Poll) combo box on the Parent tab to specify the Scan Group with which the Status points are associated. The Scan Group is used to determine whether the Status points are scanned during a Level 3 Scan. On Direct DNP3 outstations, the Scan Group also defines the rate at which Level 3 Scans are performed.

Use the combo box to select which one of up to eight Scan Groups is to be used by these particular Status points:

When you use the Perform Level 3 Scan pick action to read point data from a DNP3 outstation, you will be prompted to select which Scan Groups to include. The Status Points from the selected Scan Groups will be read from the outstation using a DNP3 Level 3 Scan. (If the Perform Level 3 Scan action is triggered by Schedule, you specify which Scan Groups are to be included, when you set up the Schedule.)

With Status Points on Direct DNP3 outstations, the rate at which the current values of the Status Points are updated is determined by the corresponding Scan n field on the DNP3 Direct Channel Form (see Define Intervals for Timed Current Data Updates in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Advanced Drivers). Whenever the Scan Group timer expires, the DNP3 driver issues a DNP3 Level 3 Scan.

Select the Scan Group (Confidence Poll) option ‘None’ if the status data is not to be retrieved using a Level 3 Scan. Geo SCADA Expert will update the status points’ data if it is returned during a DNP3 Class 0 Poll, or following a Refresh pick action request.
