Use the Geo SCADA Expert Server Configuration Tool to Specify the Common Driver Settings
Geo SCADA Expert is supplied with a set of defaults, which determine the way in which the system functions, and the way in which data is processed and displayed. This includes various settings that affect the drivers that you install on your system. Some of these settings affect multiple drivers, whereas other settings are driver-specific. If required, many of these settings can be changed from the defaults.
Settings that affect more than one driver should be specified on each server when
a Geo SCADA Expert system is first installed. This section summarizes the driver-related server settings that apply to multiple drivers. The settings are configured using the Geo SCADA Expert Server Configuration Tool. For information on using the tool, see Working with the Geo SCADA Expert Server Configuration Tool in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Server Administration.
You can use the Geo SCADA Expert Server Configuration Tool to specify:
- The Channels settings (see Channel Settings in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Server Administration).
- The Drivers settings, including various timeouts and the Value Map scanning interval (see Driver Settings in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Server Administration).
The Drivers section also includes the setting that controls whether users can postpone certain pick action requests on PSTN and direct ‘On Demand’ outstations. If the feature is enabled, a Queue check box is displayed on certain pick action windows (see Optionally Queue Pick Action Requests on PSTN and ‘On Demand’Outstations).
- The Historic Data settings, including the amount of time for which any historic data is retained online (see Historic Data Storage Settings in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Server Administration).
- The Outstations settings, including the default dial out promotion settings (see Outstation Settings in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Server Administration).
- The Points settings, including the window for valid time stamps (see Points Settings in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Server Administration).
In addition to the above, several drivers have driver-specific server settings. You configure these settings on the relevant <Driver Name> section. Each of the <Driver Name> sections are located within the Global Parameters branch of the Geo SCADA Expert Server Configuration Tool. Not all drivers have server settings that are driver-specific—the relevant driver guide will summarize any settings that do exist.
