Configure Digital Points
Use an EtherNet/IP Digital Point to map an item of data (a tag) in the controller to a digital point in Geo SCADA Expert database. You do this when the tag comprises digital data to enable Geo SCADA Expert to represent that data in the database.
You configure the properties of each digital point using fields on the EtherNet/IP Digital Point Form. The configuration Form contains many fields, organized into tabs. Most of these tabs contain properties that are common to points on many drivers (see Tabs on Point Forms in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Advanced Drivers).
This section covers configuration of the digital point-specific properties on the Digital Point tab of the Form.
Use the Digital Point tab to:
- Configure the Common Point Properties.
- Define the Format (see Define the Format of a Digital Point’s Values in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration).
When you define the format, it specifies the appearance of the point’s value in other ViewX displays, such as Lists.
- Define the Point States (see Define the Point States for a Digital Point in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration).
EtherNet/IP digital points have 1-bit and therefore can be in either of 2 states.
- Define any Persistence Settings (see Use Persistence to Stop Fleeting Changes in Value from Changing a Point State).
- Specify the Override Properties (see Define whether a Digital Point can be Overridden in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration).
- Specify the Trend Properties (see Define a Digital Point’s Trend Settings in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration).
With each digital point that is to operate as an output point (in order to control plant), you also have to enable and configure the properties on the Control tab. For more information, see Define the Control Settings for a Digital Output Point in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration.
