Configuring ICMP Digital Points
For each network-connected device that you want Geo SCADA Expert to monitor using the ICMP driver, you need to create and configure an ICMP Digital Point in the Geo SCADA Expert database.
Each ICMP Digital Point can be in either of two states:
- State 0 indicates that Geo SCADA Expert can poll the remote device successfully
- State 1 indicates that Geo SCADA Expert cannot poll the device.
Configure the properties of each digital point using the fields on the ICMP Digital Point Form.
The Form has these tabs:
- Identification—Use to optionally define a Help View and to indicate whether the point is to be excluded from any Exclusive Control activity (see Defining Identification Details in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Configuration).
-
Location—Use to specify the item's geographical coordinates. (You need only configure the properties on this tab if your system uses Geo SCADA Expert's Geographical Location features.)
- User Methods—Use to define any custom pick actions (‘methods’) for the point (see Using the User Methods Tab to Define Custom Actions in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Configuration).
- Alarm—Use to define optional features associated with alarms for the point (see Defining an Item or Group’s Alarm Properties in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Configuration).
- Redirection—Use to define any alarm redirections for the point (see Configure Alarm Redirections for an Item or Group in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Alarm Redirection).
- Digital Point—Use to:
- Configure the Basic Point Properties
- Configure the Poll Properties
- Configure the Point States (see Define the Point States for a Digital Point in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration)
- Configure the Trend Properties (see Define a Digital Point’s Trend Settings in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration)
- Configure the Override Properties (see Define whether a Digital Point can be Overridden in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration).
- Historic—Use to define any historic data storage for the point (see Defining Historic Details for a Point in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration).
