Configuring Kingfisher Server Settings

Some driver-specific settings need configuring on the server by a system administrator when a Geo SCADA Expert system is first installed. These settings are configured using the Geo SCADA Expert Server Configuration Tool. This section explains the Kingfisher driver-specific settings that need specifying using this tool.

For information on running the Geo SCADA Expert Server Configuration Tool, see Configuring Advanced Driver Server Settings in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Advanced Drivers.

If you make configuration changes on a Geo SCADA Expert server, you also need to make the same changes on any other Geo SCADA Expert servers on your system. This is because the servers need to have matching configuration settings. The only exception to this rule is Permanent Standby servers - you only need to apply the changes to Permanent Standby servers if you have changed the PSTN Connection Types.

When the Kingfisher driver is first installed on a Geo SCADA Expert system, a system administrator needs to:

  1. Specify the System ID.
  2. Specify the Communications Re-Establishment Delay.
  3. Specify Whether the Driver is to Communicate Directly Via a Specific RTU Address.
  4. Specify any additional PSTN Connection Types (see PSTN Connection Types).
  5. Apply the changes to the server.
  6. Either:
    • If the server is currently running as the main server, restart the driver for the changes to take effect.
    • If the server is not currently running as the main server, go to step 7.
  7. Repeat steps 1 to 6 for each of the servers on your system. (You only need to repeat the steps on any permanent standby servers if you make changes to the PSTN Connection Types.)
