Introduction to the Mitsubishi Driver

This driver is a simple driver. It provides additional functionality to enable Geo SCADA Expert to interface with specific supported devices using a particular protocol. To interact successfully with such devices, you need to:

Intended Audience

This guide is primarily intended for engineers who are responsible for configuring Mitsubishi items and features in the Geo SCADA Expert database.

The guide also contains information of use to maintenance engineers.

The Mitsubishi Driver provides extra functionality to allow a Geo SCADA Expert system to be populated with data from, and control points on, Mitsubishi Slaves or Mitsubishi PLCs. The driver allows Geo SCADA Expert to communicate with:

Document Scope

This guide explains the configuration, features and database items that are specific to Geo SCADA Expert’s Mitsubishi driver (see Configuring Mitsubishi Devices in Geo SCADA Expert and see Mitsubishi Data Address Ranges).

It also explains the driver-specific status attributes. These attributes may be useful to system administrators and engineers when investigating unexpected system behavior (relating to the driver) (see Mitsubishi Specific Status Display Attributes).

The Mitsubishi driver enables Geo SCADA Expert to communicate with slave devices and PLCs using the Mitsubishi MELSEC A protocol.

For information on how to configure Geo SCADA Expert to act as a Mitsubishi MELSEC A PLC and report any data changes back to its Master, see the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to the Mitsubishi Slave Driver.

There are no driver-specific pick actions for items on the Mitsubishi driver. However, users with the required privileges can add custom pick actions to a database item by using the User Methods tab on the relevant configuration Form (see Using the User Methods Tab to Define Custom Actions in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Configuration). See a system administrator for the documentation associated with such custom actions (also known as ‘methods’).

Geo SCADA Expert communicates with Mitsubishi PLCs using Transmission Control Protocol Format 1(see The Transmission Control Protocol Supported by Geo SCADA Expert).

For PLC information not covered by this guide, see the Mitsubishi documentation supplied with Mitsubishi PLCs.

For information on configuring Geo SCADA Expert so that it can communicate as a Mitsubishi Slave, see the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to the Mitsubishi Slave Driver.
