Retrieve the Value of a Search Key 1 Field

A system administrator can add additional configuration fields to Forms when a Geo SCADA Expert system is first set up. The fields are set on a per database basis and can be added if additional configuration properties or point values need displaying, which are specific to your system or application.

Where an additional configuration field is required to display information in alphanumeric text format, this is added to the Geo SCADA Expert database in the form of a Search Key field.

If your system has been configured to display an extra configuration field on each Point Form and that field has been set up using Search Key 1, you can use the Search Key 1 check box on an OPC XML-DA Point Form to specify whether to retrieve the value of the Search Key 1 field from the OPC data source. If selected, use the adjacent field to specify the property ID of the Search Key 1 parameter in the OPC data source (see Retrieve Configuration Properties from an OPC Data Source).

Search Keys are configured using the Metadata window in ViewX (see Extra Database Fields in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Server Administration).

For the Search Key 1 field to appear on the Point Form, Search Key 1 has to be configured to reference the CDBPoint database table. This reference is made using the Metadata window. Search Key fields that reference this table appear as fields on an additional Point tab on the Point Configuration Form for each point on the system. Each Search Key field is given the size, position and (if applicable) label that is specified for that field in the Metadata window.
