SCADAPack x70

Configure Modbus Slave Device Status and Control Object Associations

The Status and Control Object Associations section of the Modbus tab allows you to expose status and control properties of the Modbus Slave operation to other parts of the SCADAPack x70 functionality, for example, Logic Programs, DNP3 or Modbus Protocol, by associating each property with a SCADAPack x70 configuration object

If the values are to read and written by Geo SCADA Expert you will need to configure a SCADAPack DNP3 Point to read and write the value from Geo SCADA Expert.

Message Count

Data Type: Analog

The number of messages that have been sent to the selected Modbus device, including forced reads and writes.

This counter can be reset by sending a control from the SCADAPack x70 DNP3 Point associated with the Analog configuration object.

This counter can be reset in other ways via Logic, Modbus Master or other DNP3 Master.

Message Error Count

Data Type: Analog

The number of unsuccessful messages sent to the selected Modbus device. A message is considered unsuccessful when the Modbus device does not respond within the configured timeout.

Reset this counter by changing the value of the associated DNP3 Point to zero.

Communication Status

Data Type: Analog

The current state of communications with the Modbus Slave. We recommend that you configure and use this property to monitor the communications status of the slave device (see Configure Geo SCADA Expert to Communicate with, and Monitor the Status of, Downstream Slave Devices).

Default Read Scan Countdown Time

Data Type: Analog

The number of milliseconds (ms) remaining until read operations are executed on the selected Modbus device.

Typically, the configured Scan Rate determines the Next Default Scan Time. However, in certain cases where there are ongoing communications interruptions, the Scan Rate is automatically set to 15000 ms (15 seconds). For details, see Default Scan Rate.

To update this value, change the value of the associated DNP3 Point.

Default Write Scan Countdown Time

Data Type: Analog

The number of milliseconds (ms) remaining until write operations are executed on the selected Modbus device.

Put Device In Service

Data Type: Digital

Set this digital object to a value of 1 to bring the selected Modbus Slave online for communications. When the Modbus device is online, the SCADAPack x70 scans the defined registers and updates status information at the Scan Rate.

Set this digital object to a value of 0 to take the selected Modbus device offline. When the Modbus device is offline, the SCADAPack x70 does not scan its registers or update its status information.

The Modbus device must be online to enable read or write communications.

Force All Reads

Data Type: Digital

To request a spontaneous scan of Modbus registers with the Operation parameter set to Read, write a value of 1 to the appropriate digital object.

Force all Writes

Data Type: Digital

To request a spontaneous scan of Modbus registers with the Operation parameter set to Write, write a value of 1 to the appropriate digital object.

Enable All Reads

Data Type: Digital

Set this digital object to a value of 1 if you want the SCADAPack x70 to read Modbus registers that are configured for Read operations.

Set this digital object to a value of 0 if you want to disable read operations on the selected Modbus device.

Enable All Writes

Data Type: Digital

Set this digital object to a value of 1 if you want the SCADAPack x70 to write to Modbus registers that are configured for write operations.

Set this digital object to a value of 0 if you want to disable write operations on the selected Modbus device.
