User accounts are a key part of the Geo SCADA Expert system security mechanism. They allow individual users to be allocated a configurable identity that can provide or restrict access to system features.
Geo SCADA Expert offers three user-related security setups. Use whichever one best suits your requirements:
- Manage user accounts directly in Geo SCADA Expert. For more information, see the topics that are listed in the gray footer section at the bottom of this topic. Select the relevant entry to display the topic that you require.

Map Geo SCADA Expert user accounts to operating system user accounts to enable authentication of logon details via a Windows domain server or LDAP/LDAP SSL.

Integrate Geo SCADA Expert with your network's Active Directory or LDAP user accounts, to enable Geo SCADA Expert user accounts to be created automatically based on the settings of those network user accounts.
For this type of setup, you use a User Pattern to define the settings for the new User accounts that Geo SCADA Expert might be triggered to create automatically. (You only need create User accounts manually in Geo SCADA Expert for any users that are not integrated with Windows or LDAP user profiles.)

You can create, modify, copy, move, rename, import or delete a user account in a similar way to other database items. To do this, you have to be logged on via a user account that has the Configure and Security permission for the user account or the Group that contains the user account (see Permissions for Working with User Accounts and User Groups).
