The Simple Trio Diagnostics driver enables Geo SCADA Expert to communicate with a network of Trio radios, via one or more Trio ‘base’ radios. Each ‘base’ radio is connected to the Geo SCADA Expert server and provides the communications path to the other Trio radios on the radio network (see Supported System Setups).
You need to configure at least one Simple Trio Diagnostics Radio database item for each Trio radio from which Geo SCADA Expert is to retrieve diagnostics data.
If some diagnostics data needs retrieving more frequently than other diagnostics data on the same radio unit, configure two or more Simple Trio Diagnostics Radios to represent the same radio unit: one per required scan rate.
If multiple Trio Diagnostics Radio database items are to represent the same radio unit:
- Assign the same Unit Serial Number to each radio database item
- Use each radio database item to specify a different set of scan rates
- Associate the points that represent the various items of diagnostics data on the radio with the correct radio database item (the one that defines the required scan rate from that particular item of diagnostics data). For more information, see Points Used on Trio Diagnostics Radios.
You specify the properties of each radio using the fields on the Simple Trio Diagnostics Radio Form. The Form has several tabs, including a Radio tab. The Radio tab contains radio-specific properties and properties that are common to Scanner database items on other simple drivers. For this reason, some of the references below refer to the ‘Configuring Scanners’ section in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Simple Drivers.
Use the fields on the Radio tab to:
- Specify whether the radio is active or inactive (see Placing an Item In Service in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Configuration)
- Specify the Channel with which the Radio is Associated
- Specify the Serial Number of the Radio Unit
- Specify the Stream on which the Radio is to Transmit Messages
- Specify the Protocol Version
- Specify the severity of any alarms or events that are associated with the radio (see Defining Severities in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Configuration)
- Specify the Area of Interest with which any radio alarms or events are associated (see Assign a Different Area of Interest to an Item’s Alarms and Events in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Configuration).
(The ‘Area of Interest’ field is only displayed if the Area of Interest feature is enabled on your system.)
- Specify the radio’s Normal and Promoted Scan Rates and Offsets (see Define the Scan Rate in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Simple Drivers)
- Specify whether the radio is given scanning preference when its points are on display (see Define Whether a Scanner is Promoted While its Points are on Display in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Simple Drivers)
- Specify whether the radio is updated when it scans for diagnostics data (see Define Whether a Scanner is Used to Trigger Logic in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Simple Drivers).
