Alarm State

Associated with: Any item for which an alarm can be raised

This status attribute displays the summary state of an item’s current alarms and indicates whether alarms can be raised for that item.

With many types of database item, a single alarm is used to raise awareness of any abnormal condition that Geo SCADA Expert has detected on that item. The severity of the alarm is typically specified on the <Item Type> tab of the item’s configuration Form.

With points, in addition to a severity for any non-state-related alarms, separate alarms and severities can be associated with individual point states or limits. These are typically specified on the <Point Type> tab of each point’s configuration Form. With output points, a further severity can be specified for any control-related alarms (typically specified on the Control tab).

The Alarm State attribute summarizes the status of an item’s alarms, indicating if any alarms currently exist.

If the attribute indicates an alarm state, ascertain further information about the actual alarm(s) by looking at the item’s other status attributes, or by using the Display Alarms pick action to display the item’s Alarms List.
