Configure the Firmware Image Properties
Use the fields within the Firmware section of the SCADAPack tab to define the properties associated with downloading operating system firmware to the outstation. In order to configure these Firmware properties successfully, a suitable DNP3 SCADAPack Firmware Image item has to exist in the Geo SCADA Expert database (see Configure a DNP3 SCADAPack Firmware Image Item).
- Image—Select the field’s browse button to display a Reference browse window. Select the required DNP3 SCADAPack Firmware Image item from the window. (To check which operating system firmware is associated with a particular Firmware Image database item, view that item’s Status display (see DNP3 SCADAPack Firmware Image Status Attributes).)
- Firmware Download Confirm—A successful firmware download will result in a Cold Reset of the outstation. Use the Firmware Download Confirm combo box to specify whether confirmation is required whenever a user selects the Download Firmware or Download Remote Firmware pick actions.
For information on the options that are available from this combo box, see Requesting Confirmation of Action Requests in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Configuration.
- Patch Remotes—Only applies if the SCADAPack E outstation is the main unit of a Main-SCADAPack ES Remote I/O configuration (see Configure SCADAPack ES Remote I/O Properties).
Select the Patch Remotes check box if Geo SCADA Expert is to download the firmware image to both the main outstation and each of the SCADAPack ES Remote IO modules that are connected to that outstation. Such a download is only possible if both the main outstation and each of its remote IO modules are of the same type (for example, if they are all SCADAPack ES, or all 386 eNETs). Use the Download Firmware pick action to trigger such a download.
Ensure that the check box is clear if Geo SCADA Expert is to download the firmware image only to the main outstation whenever the Download Firmware pick action is triggered. The Download Remote Firmware pick action has to be used to download firmware to any of the outstation’s SCADAPack ES Remote IO modules.
With either option, be aware that a firmware image will only download successfully if the boards are compatible with the firmware update that is being downloaded. For more information, see the SCADAPack E Firmware Update User Manual.
