Display a 'File' Type Object in Run Mode

A 'file' type object is a database item for which you configure various properties using an Editor. ClearSCADA supports various 'file' type objects, including Mimics, Logic Programs, Reports,Trends, and X-Y Plots.

You display a 'file' type object in Run mode to access that object's operational features (see Run Mode).

To display a 'file' type object in Run mode, you need to log on via a User Account that has the Operate feature enabled (on the User Form) and has the Read and Browse permissions for the 'file' type object (or its parent Group). See a system administrator if your User Account does not appear to provide the required level of access.

To display a 'file' type object in Run mode, you typically select the relevant Display pick action or menu option:

  1. Log on to ViewX via a suitable User Account (see above).
  2. Display the Database Bar (see Display an Explorer Bar).
  3. Expand the tree-structure in the Database Bar to locate the 'file' type object that you want to display.
  4. Right-click on the required 'file' type object in the Database Bar.
    A context-sensitive menu is displayed.
  5. Select the relevant Display pick action. (For example, if the 'file' type object is a Trend, select the Display Trend pick action.)
The selected object is displayed in Run mode.

Alternatively, use one of the following means of displaying a 'file' type object in Run mode:

Or:

Or:

  1. Select an animated representation of the 'file' type object on a suitably configured Mimic. (Providing that the animated representation is associated with the object's Pick Action Menu and provides access to the relevant menu option.)
  2. Select the Display option.

Or:

  1. Right-click on the 'file' type object in a Queries List.
  2. Select the Display option.

Or:

Or:

  1. Display the 'file' type object in Design mode (see Display a File Type Object in Design Mode). (Providing that your User Account's settings enable you to access the 'file' type object in Design mode.)
  2. Perform one of the following:
    • Deselect the Design Mode button on the Quick Access Toolbar.

      Or:

    • Deselect the Design Mode command on the ViewX ribbon's Edit tab.

You can also display and operate 'file' type objects on a WebX client (see Use the WebX Interface in the ClearSCADA Guide to ViewX and WebX Clients).

Although Logic programs are 'file' type objects, they do not have a 'Display' pick action to enable them to be viewed in Run mode. Instead, you use the Execute pick action when you want to trigger the Logic program manually. For more information, see Using Actions Associated with Logic Programs in the ClearSCADA Guide to Logic.
