Paste an Item from the Clipboard into the Database
To paste an item into the database, you first need to have copied an item into the clipboard (see Copy an Item onto the Clipboard).
You can ‘paste’ an item or whole Group of items from the clipboard into the database. This means that you insert a copy of the item or Group into the ClearSCADA database. You can use the Rename feature to alter the name of the copy (see Renaming a Database Item).
To paste an item or Group from the clipboard into the database:
- Display the Database Bar (see Display an Explorer Bar).
- In the Database Bar, select the System, Group, or Group Template that is to contain the pasted item.
- Perform one of the following:
- Press the CTRL and V keys simultaneously.
or:
- Right-click on the database item.
A context-sensitive menu is displayed. - Select the Paste option.
or:
- Select the Edit tab on the ViewX ribbon.
- From the Clipboard command group, select the Paste command.
The copied item is added to the selected System, Group, or Group Template.
ClearSCADA adds an entry to the Messages Window, providing feedback about the copy and paste operation. We recommend that you check the message to determine the success, or otherwise, of the operation (see Messages Window).
If an item that you have copied contains invalid configuration, ClearSCADA generates a diagnostic message that gives details of the affected properties. Make any necessary changes to the configuration (see Correcting Invalid Configuration).
