About Map Markers

Map Markers identify the geographic location of database items on a ClearSCADA map. For example, a Map Marker might display the location of an outstation (see Displaying the Geographic Location of a Database Item) or track the location of engineers (see Use the Location Tab to Specify an Item's Geographic Coordinates).

A typical Map Marker display is shown below:

In ClearSCADA there are four different types of Map Marker symbol: circle, triangle, square and diamond.

The illustration above shows the circle marker.

A Map Marker consists of two parts. The outer part of the Map Marker symbol shows the background color of the database item and the inner part shows the foreground color (see System Colors and see System Color Priorities in the ClearSCADA Guide to Core Configuration). In addition, if the foreground color is set to 'Flash' then the inner part of the shape will blink on and off. For more about the Flash setting, see Use the Color Palette to Define a Custom System Color in the ClearSCADA Guide to Core Configuration.

If you right-click on a Map Marker, ClearSCADA will display a menu of standard actions for the database item (see Object Menu and see Object Menu Options in the ClearSCADA Guide to ViewX and WebX Clients).
