Controls in IEC 61850

Depending on the functional constraint of the Data Object or Data Attribute, the way it is represented in the database and controlled differs.

The Data Attributes with functional constraints other than 'CO' are represented as points in the database and have the Write tab in the properties form. For these points, a control request will attempt to write the requested value to the relevant leaf node (see Configure the Write Properties of an IEC 61850 Analog Point, Configure the Write Properties of an IEC 61850 Digital Point, and Configure the Write Properties of an IEC 61850 String Point).

The Data Objects with functional constraints 'CO' and their constituent structures of Data Attributes and Data Objects are represented as controls in the Geo SCADA Expert database and have the Control tab in the properties form. For these points, a control request will attempt to operate the corresponding control object with the requested value (see Configure the Control Properties of an IEC 61850 Analog Control and Configure the Control Properties of an IEC 61850 Digital Control).
