Points Used On IEC 61850 Device
This section covers the creation and configuration of points on IEC 61850 devices for which Geo SCADA Expert is the server. An IEC 61850 point is defined by its Point Type (for example, analog input, digital output, counter) and Point Number (address). The IEC 61850 driver supports a combination of the point types. You configure the properties for each point type using the fields on the appropriate IEC 61850 Point Form.
This section includes information on how to:
To create IEC 61850 Points in the database:
- Right-click on the Logical Node or Logical Device database item to display a context-sensitive menu. Select the Create or Update Points and Controls pick action to generate the Points that are defined in the SCL file for the IED.
- Click on any other folder in the database bar to refresh the window.
- Click on the Logical Node database item folder where you have created the Points and Controls.
The Points that have been created are displayed.
Creating the Points database items manually is not recommended. If you create the Points database items manually, you have to configure the properties manually. The configuration settings will be validated and have to match the SCL file configuration, otherwise a diagnostic message might get displayed or the database item might not communicate successfully with the IED.
