Archiving
The archiving feature enables you to provide long-term offline storage of Historic Types and Streams, event, alarm summary, and configuration changes messages on a variety of devices (providing that storage and archiving of such data is enabled on your system), including:
- Removable hard disks
- Removable flash technology, for example Compact Flash
- CD-R and CD-RW devices
- DVD devices such as DVD-R, DVD-RAM and so on.
You can access the historic data and events from the archives via Lists and Trends.
Restored historic data is only available on the server on which is it restored. In a Main-Standby setup, the restored data is only available on the Main or the Standby, depending on where the data was restored—the data is not restored across the link between servers.
ATTENTION: Any data that has been manually modified is permanently stored online it is not archived with the related historic data. However, when you access an archive, any related modified data is also shown.
For more information on modifying historic values, see Modify a Value on a Historic Trend.
