Use the Area of Interest Cleaner Utility
The topics in this section only apply to systems on which the Area of Interest feature is used. If this feature is not enabled on your system, you can ignore these topics.
Users with the relevant permissions are able to delete obsolete Areas of Interest using a Delete option (see Delete an Area of Interest From the Areas of Interest Bar in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Configuration). However, if there are a large number of unused Areas of Interest on your system, you might want to consider running the built-in Area of Interest Cleaner utility to remove those unused Areas of Interest from the database.
The utility is installed alongside other Geo SCADA Expert components on each ViewX client (see File Locations (Default)).
To run the utility, you can either:
- Run the utility from a Command Prompt window, where you can specify various options to control some of the utility's activities and output.
If there are a large number of Areas of Interest in the database (say 500 or more), we recommend that you run the utility from a Command Prompt window and specify options that optimize the deletion routine.
Or:
- Run the utility directly from Windows Explorer.
The utility will run using its default settings.
If a user happens to have the Area of Interest Bar on display in ViewX when the Area of Interest Cleaner utility is running, they will come across notification indicators if they attempt to access the Areas of Interest that have just been deleted (see Notification Indicator in the Explorer Bars).
