Uninstalling Geo SCADA Expert
There are two different ways of uninstalling Geo SCADA Expert:
- ‘Quick’ uninstall—A ‘quick’ uninstall is mostly automatic, and so does not involve the potential risks of editing the registry settings. It removes most of Geo SCADA Expert's files and components, but there are certain files and registry settings that are left behind. On many systems, this is acceptable, as the files and settings do not have a noticeable effect on the computer.
- ‘Complete’ uninstall—A ‘complete’ uninstall removes all Geo SCADA Expert files and settings from a computer. It should only be performed by a user with experience of modifying registry settings, as incorrect registry settings can cause serious problems relating to the operating system.
To discover which of the uninstall processes is most appropriate for your requirements, answer the questions below:
- Do you intend to re-install Geo SCADA Expert on the computer at a later date?
- Do you want a re-installed version of Geo SCADA Expert to use only the default settings (that is, be a ‘clean’ install)?
If you answered no to any of the questions, we recommend that you use the ‘Quick’ uninstall process (see Uninstall Geo SCADA Expert - ‘Quick’ Uninstall).
If you answered yes to both of these questions, you should use the ‘Complete’ uninstall process (see Uninstall Geo SCADA Expert - ‘Complete’ Uninstall). But to do so, you need to have experience of editing registry settings in Windows. This is because incorrect configuration of the registry can cause serious problems with the Windows operating system.
To perform a complete uninstall, you need to also uninstall the Virtual ViewX component, which is installed separately from Geo SCADA Expert, (see Uninstall Virtual ViewX).
To ensure a clean uninstallation of Geo SCADA Expert components, make sure that you uninstall Geo SCADA Expert before you uninstall any IIS components or the Crystal Reports runtime.
