Display the Metadata Window

To create or modify an extra field or label, you need to use the Metadata window. When you access the Metadata window, you can view a list of the extra fields and labels that are currently in place on your system. You can add, edit, or remove the extra fields and labels as required.

To display the Metadata window:

  1. Run ViewX on a server and log on via a User account with the System Admin permission on the system (Root Group) and the Configure Database permission (enabled via the Form for the User account).
  2. Display the Database Bar (see Display an Explorer Bar).
  3. In the Database Bar, right-click on the system icon to display a context-sensitive menu.
  4. Select the Edit Metadata option to display the branch to display the Metadata window.

The Metadata window contains two tabs: Fields and Labels. The Fields tab allows you to add, edit and remove extra configuration fields, whereas the Labels tab allows you to add, edit and remove text that appears on a Form (the text is referred to as a label).
