Advanced OPC Point Status Attributes
This section summarizes the status attributes that are specific to Advanced OPC Points:
- Source—This attribute indicates the location at which the point resides, (see Source).
- Canonical Data Type—This describes the data type of the item in the current server, or it displays 'Unknown' if the server does not know the data type currently. If the type is not supported by Geo SCADA Expert then it displays 'Unsupported', (see Configure Common Point Properties).
- Access Rights—This shows the access rights assigned to the item in the current server, Read Only, Write Only, Read/Write or No Access.
The access rights can be effected by the private security settings on the server, although some items may be intrinsically read only or write only.
- Actual Sampling Rate—This shows the actual data sampling rate in milliseconds of the item in the current server. This is useful to compare against the configured sampling rate in the event that the server rejects the configured sampling rate.(see Configure Point Sampling (OPC DA 3.0 only)).
- Error—This attribute displays a diagnostic message if an error occurs reading the point's item or if the attempt to add the item to a Group in the current OPC DA server has been unsuccessful.
This attribute is is only shown when an error has occurred.
The diagnostic message is also displayed in the Alarm Lists and Event List.
