Define the Security Settings

The DNP3 Master and DNP3 Slave sections of the Geo SCADA Expert Server Configuration Tool each include a Security section. Use the sections to define the server-wide DNP3 Secure Authentication properties.

Geo SCADA Expert applies:

• The DNP3 Master section’s Security settings to DNP3 master outstations on which DNP3 Secure Authentication is enabled (see Specify Whether DNP3 Secure Authentication is Used).

  Use the DNP3 Master’s Security section to:

  • Define the Challenge Data Length
  • Define the Session Key Length
  • Define Which Function Codes are Critical.
• The DNP3 Slave section’s Security settings to DNP3 slave outstations on which DNP3 Secure Authentication is enabled (see Specify Whether DNP3 Secure Authentication is Used). Slave outstations allow Geo SCADA Expert to operate as a DNP3 Slave (see Third-Party Master Communicating with a Geo SCADA Expert DNP3 Slave).
• Use the DNP3 Slave’s Security section to:
  • Define the Challenge Data Length
  • Define Which Function Codes are Critical.
