Points Used on IEC 60870-5 Phoenix PSTN Outstations

Throughout the Geo SCADA Expert documentation suite ‘information objects’—the objects that can be monitored or controlled on an outstation—are referred to as ‘points’. You create and configure different types of point in Geo SCADA Expert, to represent the different types of information object on each outstation or other Phoenix device.

Within Geo SCADA Expert you need to configure one IEC 60870-5 Point of the appropriate type for each information object that Geo SCADA Expert is to monitor or control. There are no Phoenix-specific points in Geo SCADA Expert, instead you create and configure the appropriate type of IEC 60870-5 point and assign that point to the relevant IEC 60870-5 Phoenix PSTN outstation.

For information on the types of point that the IEC 60870-5 Phoenix driver supports and how to configure those points, see Points Used on IEC 60870-5 Outstations in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to the IEC 60870-5 Driver.

Phoenix outstations have a fixed interpretation of the IEC 60870-5 ‘Cause of Transmission’ indicators. As such, Geo SCADA Expert ignores any configuration within the Cause of Transmission Interpretation section of an input point’s Form, if that point is associated with an IEC 60870-5 Phoenix PSTN outstation. With points on Phoenix outstations:

For more information, see Specify how Geo SCADA Expert Interprets an Input Point’s Cause of Transmission in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to the IEC 60870-5 Driver.

If a Phoenix device supports counter data, map that data to IEC 60870-5 Analog Point(s) in the Geo SCADA Expert database, in order to use that data within Geo SCADA Expert.
