Configuring Kingfisher Devices in Geo SCADA Expert
On a Geo SCADA Expert system, you configure the Geo SCADA Expert database so that entries in the database correspond to the plant and measuring instruments on your system. This section summarizes the database items that you need to configure to represent the Kingfisher devices on your system.
In order to represent any Kingfisher devices, the Kingfisher Driver has to be installed and running on the Geo SCADA Expert servers on your system. When the driver is first installed, a system administrator needs to define the server settings for the driver (see Configuring Kingfisher Server Settings).
When you configure Kingfisher items in the Geo SCADA Expert database, many of the properties of those items need to correspond to the settings of the relevant Kingfisher devices on your system. Some settings are either fixed (incorporated into the design of the Kingfisher outstation), or are configured by an engineer. You need to have access to, or an understanding of, the settings of the Kingfisher devices on your system before you can configure the Kingfisher database items successfully.
The items that you need to configure vary, depending whether you require a Master device (see Kingfisher Master Configuration), or a Remote device (see Kingfisher Remote Configuration).
For instance, for Kingfisher Master configuration, you need to know whether the points on your Kingfisher outstations are physical (Hardware) points, or internal (Register) points. You also need to know the slot number or Register address of each point.
You also need to be aware of which optional features are required for each Kingfisher item. These features include:
- Alarm views
- Alarm redirections
- Historic data storage
- User methods.
You can also use core Geo SCADA Expert features with Kingfisher database items, including Lists, Actions, and Mimics. For actions that are specific to the Kingfisher driver, see Using Kingfisher Specific Actions. For further information on actions and details on Lists and Mimics, see the core documentation.
