Points Used on Simple Modbus Scanners
Scanners on the Simple Modbus driver can support the point types that are listed below.
You configure the Simple Modbus points on your system using the Simple Modbus Analog Point Form, or the Simple Modbus Digital Point Form, as appropriate. The Forms have several tabs (see Tabs on Point Forms in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Simple Drivers).
For information on creating a point and displaying a Point Form, see Configuring a Point in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration.
For information on configuring fields on the Modbus tab, see Configuring Analog Points, or see Configuring Digital Points.
For information on configuring fields on the <Point Type> tab, see the appropriate reference below:
- Simple Modbus Analog Point—see Defining Analog Point Details in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration.
- Simple Modbus Digital Point—see Defining Digital Point Details in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration.
For fields on other tabs, see Tabs on Point Forms in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Simple Drivers.
On Modbus PLCs, point data is stored in registers (see Modbus Register Ranges). You specify the register block that each scanner scans, using fields on the Scanner Form (see Configure the Scanner Properties). You define the Word offset, and where applicable, the bit offset of the point data within the register block, using fields on the Modbus tab of the Point Forms. This determines the location of the points that are to be scanned by each scanner.
