Configure SCADAPack 50 Devices in Geo SCADA Expert
On a Geo SCADA Expert system, you configure the Geo SCADA Expert database so that database items correspond to the plant, control devices and measuring instruments on your system. This section summarizes the database items that you need to configure to represent SCADAPack 50 devices.
The SCADAPack 50 driver should be installed and running on your Geo SCADA Expert servers.
When you configure Geo SCADA Expert database items, many of the item settings need to correspond to the settings of the relevant SCADAPack 50 devices. Therefore, you should have access to, or an understanding of, the settings of these devices before you proceed. You also need to know which optional features you require for each SCADAPack 50 database item. The features include:
- Alarm views
- Alarm redirections
- Historic data storage
- User methods.
You can also use core Geo SCADA Expert features with SCADAPack 50 database items, including actions and mimics. For actions that are specific to the SCADAPack 50 driver, see Using SCADAPack 50 Specific Actions.
For further information on actions and mimics, see the Core documentation.
For each SCADAPack 50 device with which Geo SCADA Expert will communicate, you need to configure:
- SCADAPack 50 Channels to represent the communication connections between Geo SCADA Expert and the GSM network (see Configuring a SCADAPack 50 Channel ).
- SCADAPack 50 Outstation Sets to define groups of outstations that share the same communications link (see Configuring a SCADAPack 50 Outstation Set).
- A SCADAPack 50 Outstation to represent the device (see Configuring a SCADAPack 50 Outstation).
- SCADAPack 50 Points to represent the analog and digital measuring instruments that are connected to the device (see Points Used on SCADAPack 50 Outstations).
