Configuring a Trio Diagnostics Channel
In the Geo SCADA Expert database, you use a Simple Trio Diagnostics Channel database item to define the communication properties between Geo SCADA Expert and a Trio ‘base’ radio. The ‘base’ radio provides the communications path to the other Trio radios on the network.
You need to configure one Simple Trio Diagnostics Channel item for each ‘base’ radio that is connected to the Geo SCADA Expert server. (If the ‘base’ radio is connected to a Terminal Server or similar device, which itself is connected to Geo SCADA Expert, use the Trio Diagnostics Channel database item to specify the type of communications between Geo SCADA Expert and the Terminal Server.)
Depending on your system setup and the radio series, Geo SCADA Expert can communicate with a Trio ‘base’ radio using either a Direct Serial, or TCP/IP connection (see Supported System Setups).
You specify the properties of each channel using the fields on the Simple Trio Diagnostics Channel Form. The Form has several tabs.
Use the fields on the Channel tab to:
- Specify the common channel properties (see Configure the Basic Channel Properties in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Simple Drivers)
- Specify the Controller Address.
- Specify Whether to Include the Stream Identifier in each Data Packet.
Use the fields on the Connection tab to:
- Specify the Connection Type (see Configure a Channel’s Connection Type in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Drivers). Each Trio Diagnostics Channel can have either a Serial or TCP/IP Connection Type.
With a channel that has a Serial Connection Type, use the rest of the fields on the tab to:
- Configure the Serial Properties (see Configure a Channel’s Serial Connection Properties in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Drivers).
With a channel that has a TCP/IP Connection Type, use the rest of the fields on the tab to:
- Configure the basic TCP/IP Properties (see Configure a Channel’s TCP/IP Connection Properties in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Drivers)
- Specify the Local TCP/IP Port
- Specify the TCP ‘Keep Alive’ Interval.
The properties on the other tabs are common to many types of database item (see Tabs That are Common to Many Configuration Forms in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Simple Drivers).
