Use the Apply Update Key pick action to instruct Geo SCADA Expert to use a new Update Key.
The Apply Update Key pick action is only available on outstations on which:
- DNP3 Secure Authentication is enabled
- The security settings are configured remotely via Geo SCADA Expert (see Import and Download SCADAPack Security Configuration Files).
The security configuration file that is downloaded to an outstation using the Download Security Configuration pick action contains an encrypted Update Key. Once the download has completed successfully, both the outstation and Geo SCADA Expert should automatically start to use the new Update Key for any secure communications. Should a download be successful, but an Update Key mismatch occur (for instance should the outstation neglect to notify Geo SCADA Expert that the download succeeded), use the Apply Update Key pick action to instruct Geo SCADA Expert to use the new Update Key.
Use the Apply Update Key pick action to indicate to Geo SCADA Expert that it should now use the Update Key that was specified when the outstation’s security configuration file was imported into Geo SCADA Expert (see Import Security Configuration).
(To apply a different Update Key to that associated with the outstation’s security configuration file, use the Set Update Key pick action, rather than the Apply Update Key pick action.)
