The Download Security Configuration pick action is only available on outstations on which DNP3 Secure Authentication is enabled.
WARNINGUNEXPECTED BEHAVIOR OF APPLICATION
Downloading security configuration will result in a Warm Reset of the outstation (see Restart Level).
Always ensure that it is safe to allow the outstation to reset before issuing a Download Security Configuration request.
INOPERABLE DEVICE
Should the downloaded security configuration prove invalid, normal communications between Geo SCADA Expert and the outstation might cease. This might occur, for example, if there is a mismatch between the downloaded security configuration file and the Update Key being used for secure communications.
Only attempt to download security configuration when there is sufficient time to recover the situation in the event of the downloaded security configuration file being invalid.
Use the Download Security Configuration pick action to download a previously imported .rtk file to a SCADAPack E outstation, to configure that outstation’s security settings remotely (see Import and Download SCADAPack Security Configuration Files).
Once the security configuration file has been downloaded, you can use the outstation’s Downloaded Security File and Downloaded Security Description status attributes to ascertain summary information about that downloaded file.
The security configuration file that is downloaded to the outstation using this pick action contains an encrypted Update Key. Once the download has completed successfully, both the outstation and Geo SCADA Expert should automatically start to use this Update Key for any secure communications. Should an Update Key mismatch occur following a successful download (for instance should the outstation fail to notify Geo SCADA Expert that the download succeeded), use the Apply Update Key pick action to instruct Geo SCADA Expert to use the new Update Key.
If using this pick action with the Automation Interface (see DNP3 SCADAPack E Automation Interface Methods), you need to specify the method name DownloadSecurityConfig.
