Import and Download SCADAPack Security Configuration Files

This section applies to SCADAPack E outstations on which DNP3 Secure Authentication is enabled.

With SCADAPack E outstations, you can configure the outstation’s DNP3 Secure Authentication settings remotely, in the form of a security configuration file, then download those settings to the outstation.

In order to download a security configuration file to a SCADAPack E outstation from Geo SCADA Expert, you need to:

1. Create and configure a DNP3 SCADAPack Security Configuration item in the Geo SCADA Expert database (see Configure a DNP3 SCADAPack Security Configuration Item).

   You need one DNP3 SCADAPack Security Configuration item per security configuration file.

2. Use each DNP3 SCADAPack Security Configuration item’s Import Security Configuration pick action to import the required security configuration file into Geo SCADA Expert.

   The DNP3 SCADAPack E driver supports security configuration files that have an .rtk file extension. Such files are generated using Schneider Electric’s Security Administrator application. Each security configuration file includes various security settings and user details, along with an encrypted private Update Key. You need to have access to an unencrypted version of this Update Key in order to import and download the security configuration file successfully via Geo SCADA Expert.

   The location to which each security configuration file is imported is defined using the Geo SCADA Expert Server Configuration Tool’s Data Files field (see Locations of the Database Folders in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Server Administration).

3. Use the Security Configuration fields on each DNP3 SCADAPack E Outstation Form to associate the relevant DNP3 SCADAPack Security Configuration item with each outstation (see Configure the Security Configuration Properties).

   If required, you can associate the same DNP3 SCADAPack Security Configuration item (and therefore the same security configuration file and Update Key) with more than one outstation.

4. Us ethe Download Security Configuration pick action to download the relevant security configuration file to each outstation.
